Here is the stuff you may want to know but hadn’t thought of asking.

If we haven't covered it please don't hesitate to contact us

1. How big is the swimming pool? It is a beautiful turquoise pool which is just over 8 metres long,  It is reserved for your exclusive use. There are Roman steps at one end which is easier for children. The pool has lockable gates and proper railings so that you can keep the younger members of your party safe.

2. What other things are there for children to do? If you can get them out of the pool, in the orchard garden there are swings and we can provide footballs if you like. If it is raining we have a lot of DVDs in the house and there are some games as well. Locally there is a wonderful lake with an artificial beach. Do look at our Local Attractions page as well where you will find lot of things to do such as canoeing, horse riding, go karting and so on. We will be happy to help with booking these if you need French translation done. In the house there is a large file with many attractions listed.

3. We are a large group of friends who want to have neighbouring gites but still have our own space can you accommodate that? We can see if our near neighbours are renting their house at the time. It is within 50 meters of La Grange and can take up to six guests.

4. Does the bathroom have a bath or shower? There is a large en suite bathroom on the ground floor with a wet room type shower, wash basin and loo. On the first floor is a bathroom with a bath and washbasin. There is a separate shower and a separate loo on the first floor as well.

5.Do you provide linen and towels? Yes (and your beds will be made up and waiting for you when you arrive) we also provide bath towels but ask that you bring your own pool/beach towels. All linen provided is changed on Saturdays if you are staying for longer than a week.

6. I don’t want to bring a huge wardrobe is there a washing machine? There is a good sized washing machine in the house and a drying line in the orchard garden.

7. We are arriving quite late and will be gagging for a cup of tea or maybe a glass of wine! Can we order a food basket? We are happy to organise a food basket for you. We will ask you to provide us with a list when we send out all the information about your arrival (8 weeks before you get to the house). You will find a bottle of Pineau - the local tipple - in the fridge when you get in.

8. Do you offer any meals? No, La Grange is totally self catering and is equipped with a stove (electric hob and oven), a microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, fridge/freezer and a further fridge for drinks. Plus we have good restaurants in the nearby town/villages of Aigre, Tusson and Luxe.

9. I need to know the cricket/rugby/tiddlywinks score. Is that possible? Yes, you have free WI-FI. There is satellite TV in the house. Further afield there are newsagents who sell British papers.

10. Is it cold out of season? It can be, but there is central heating (which can be switched on for a small supplement) But trust us there are many days when you can sit outside in the winter sun for lunch! In fact the Autumn/Winter months are just as beautiful to visit as the summer for different reasons and we have been in our pool even in October.

11. Is there lots to do out of season? This area is beautiful  out of season and the weather can often be lovely. We would be very happy to offer some suggestions for your time with us if you like. On the third weekend of September there is the famous Tour des Remparts in Angouleme (vintage car races) and Angouleme also hosts the Cartoon Festival every year.

12. Is there a maid service? Sadly not, but we recommend pressing the entire family into service so that no one is doing more than their fair share of the work. Seriously though, when you head back home we do ask you to leave the house as you found it.
